Small Sterling Silver Nose Rings

Can I put a Sterling Silver nose ring in my new piercing?
I got my nose pierced about a week ago. It’s acted really well, and I’m not having any redness or swelling, and not really any pain. It’s a little sore, but I’ve been messing with it.
I need to change it out to something smaller for work, so I went to Claire’s and bought some screws with tines little jewels on the end. They are bend to fit, and they are all Sterling Silver. I’ve heard not to put Sterling in your nose until it’s TOTALLY Healed (like a year), but I’ve also heard it’s fine.
I also have a plastic retainer, but it’s a bone, and I’m afraid it will hurt. I’ve also been told my nose won’t heal with Sterling or plastic in it.
Any advice?
every piercer i knwo says to not ever change a piercing ring until it is completely healed which is usually 6-12 weeks depending on the piercing. for a nose it is at least 8 weeks. and next time you buy body jewelry buy it somewhere that carries quality products. material should be surgical steel or some other high quality piercing material for at least a year, if not always. if you cant have it for work, put a little piece of bandaid tape over it, but do not take the original ring out unless you do not want the piercing anymore.
