Sterling Silver Clasps
How can I tell if my ruby earrings are real?
I have a pair of old sterling silver (guessing by the ’925 mark on the back?) clasp earrings that were my grandmother’s. I’m not planning to sell them or anything, but I’m just wondering if there is a certain mark I should look for? There is a mark that looks like a diamond (like an upside-down triangle with squared edges) and I’m wondering if that has anything to do with telling me that they’re genuine ruby or not.
You’re right… the 925 mark does indicate Sterling Silver. But the only way I know to be sure about them being real gemstones would be to carry them to a jeweler… Some of the ones in the mall have people that could authenticate them for you… but you may have to check several places.
